RE: New models

I also have ridden both.. I have a Buddy who got one the day it hit the floor, he had wanted a 450r but loved the look and idea of the 700. Riding them back to back, I will say the outlaw out accelerates the 700 until the 700 settles into top gear, I feel the 700 is geared for a faster top end, but the outlaw would pull it all the way through every gear until almost topped out. The 700 seems more tippy, but this was stock and could be possibly remedied with some suspension rear compression tweaking... The big difference is weight.. Almost 100 pounds more than the outlaw? Whats up with that Honda? Your known for keeping the weight down.. SO you have a Polaris that weighs 100 pounds less than the Honda, Who would have thought? AT that weight it should have a front drivetrain..

RE: Paging PrinceValiant... GASGAS Trials Question

I have seen a few nice TM's on Ebay, which is why I started getting back into them.. There is still a ton of NOS available from suzuki, so parts should be readily available. they fetch a great price too. I might turn out to be one of those weinies who has an old restored one sitting in my living room someday. Right now I have a tc 185 and " Drum roll" a 72 tm250j Championt hat im working on, well not really working on they have been sitting there for a few months now, But I have managed to tear the TM down to the frame and have it powder coated. Coincidentally, the 72 250, also has the PEI ignition.. Im not sure how it will repsond, I have some work to do to get it running.

RE: Paging PrinceValiant... GASGAS Trials Question

Yes, swapping to the standard "points" setup from the TS 400 I believe helped solve the issue.

RE: Paging PrinceValiant... GASGAS Trials Question

One of my good friends Brother had a "cyclone" .. I believe in its time it was labeled one of the most dangerous bikes in existence..never Ran the same way twice, and WAAAAYYYY over powered the suspension and handeling. Point it in a straight line and hold on.. it had the P.E.I ignition on it, that I think was supposed to retard at startup and lower throttle, then advance at higher RPMS.. Never worked right.. Couldnt pay me to ride one now..

RE: Paging PrinceValiant... GASGAS Trials Question

Yea, Jordan was Rammed from behind while he was on his Outlaw, some guy on an an oversized AC pretty much ran him over.. he has recovered and all is well, a few scars, but nothing he cant handle, he's a senior this year, Cant Believe it.. Of course if he doesnt do better than he did last year, he's liable to be a senior next year and the year after that too. So their site is not up and running anymore? Ashame, they had some really good ideas and intentions.

RE: Paging PrinceValiant... GASGAS Trials Question

I knew youd have some info on that. Bikes great, Love it. If I take off on it, I may sell it next spring and buy a new one. Have spent time on an old 76 Honda TL 250 years ago, but this is the first "modern" trials I have taken serious rides on.As for the 500 Kickstarter, I never had any problems on the CR, which is amzing, since it only took about 350 good kicks to get it started (exaggeration) It's an 87 though, the newer kx started easier when I had it, however sometime ago it did kick back and it ended up sitting for about 3 days until my leg started working again. Where the hell have I been... Hmm going through a divorce.. I went on a ride with some friends in WV on bikes, came home 2 days early because of breakdowns, and walked in on something I didnt really want to see..I have a few business ventures with her Fathaer so thats slowing things down, I've pretty much sold or am selling everything off, shes buying me out of the house, and IM moving somewhere (currently in a small rented house outside of town) close by for my girls sake. STarted racing Hare scrambles again (the north carolina series). I race an 08 KTM 450 xc and an 06 KTM 200 xc. Need to build up some more stamina as about 1 1/2 hours in I start going backwards. Love the 200, I really believe it is one the most incredible "sleeper" bikes out there.. Very light and incredible in tight woods. Been working on a hobby restoring some of the older Suzukis (TC's and TM's) but for right now All I have is just a couple of incomplete bikes.. will see if it turns into something as time goes on. I'm heading west in 2 weeks for a clear my head ride with some folks from the ADVRIDER.com site on my 950 Adventure.. Not sure how thats going to work out, Never put in that much seat time at once but 2 of the guys Im going with put in 700 mile days and tell me that its not that bad. Know anything about Lance or 30? I have tried logging on to that site of theirs for about a year now and it said I was logged in, but wouldnt let me do anything, I finally gave up.

Paging PrinceValiant... GASGAS Trials Question

If I remember correctly, you were into Observed Trials Correct? Curious if you can point me to a fix.. I recently purchased an 04 GASGAS 280 TXT pro at a yard sale on the way home from the beach.. That was 2 weeks ago. This past weekend, after the second kick, the gear segment broke on the Kickstart shaft. I have taken it apart and fixed it, however when I was putting it back together, I didnt mark the location of the segment on the shaft.. seems the spring has a fixed location, Am I right?? Any tips on NOT repeating this in the future? Seems weak?

RE: New models

Will, you are right. However, Honda better step up their game this year, or they will see their profits srink. I love the Honda quality, but it's getting to the point where other manufactures are steping up their reliability game and honda isn't meeting the features side or the market. The only people that dont see it this way are the Honda loyalist. Their last excuse was reliabilty, fit and finish will be their last leg to stand on in the Utility department. Whatever!!! Nothing is ever static, there is always change. The last two years have seen a huge growth in selection of ATVs and features on ATVs. What I find is that the reason for the greater selection is that the new stuff is more specific or specialized to a certain way of riding. I do not necessarily care to purchase an MX quad to just ride trails in the woods. Or go full mudder for a work utility. Each of the people in this forum has a favorite type of riding and can only see a particular model as being the best for their style of riding. You cannot make a broad generalization accross all ATVs with your specific favorite. Your dislike of Honda products does not diminish the performance of their products. They do exceptionally well at what they're built to do. You may find a particular brand that has gotten specific to your form of riding, thats great. That is what choice is all about. The more choices, the less of the overall pie for each of the specific choices. Now I will agree that the sport of ATVs has grown every year and continues to do so. It all seems to work well in a capitalistic way. So again.... Whatever!! I dont think the new stuff is more specialized.. If anything, I think it has blended well in the utility market. I mean years ago, If you wanted a workhorse and prefereed Honda, you got a Honda Foreman, then as time progressed, if you wanted a sporty 4x4, you could get a Rincon. However, as time has progressed, you now have several offerings from several manufacturers that will work as hard as a foreman/rubicon, and be as sporty, and sometimes sportier than the Rincon. All of the big 4x4's now have a huge aftermarket following allowing the ability to mold your preferred ride into anything you like.

RE: Smoked an Outlaw 525!

Its a fast quad, plain and simple. Im not saying a 450 wont take it, but it wont be anywhere near a stock 450. Some guys might get a lucky punch in and now and then, but equal riders, and the 525 will pull a piped 450 fairly easily. I have always liked the 520/525 Engine since its introduction in the bikes, and always said it would make a good quad motor. Doesnt take much at all to push it over 60 hp. Its rare for me to talk up a quad and brag about it, and I usually try to refrain from it, because someone always has a bigger/faster/better handeling quad, however this machine has it.

RE: Smoked an Outlaw 525!

I'd like to see it in a video also, however I dont have it on video. When I do manage to get free time to ride anymore, its short jaunts with friends and an occasional race that proves nothing more than who gets to buy the beer that night. Im only estimating of course as I dont ride with a tape measure, so could be slightly more than 100 yards, slightly less also.

RE: Smoked an Outlaw 525!

I can pull a Piped YFZ by 3 bike lengths in about 100 yards.. Its not really even close. Guess it all depends on the day. Switched riders, near same result.
